Norris Elementary

Mitakuyepi, Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 4 to 8 pm. There will be early dismissal at 3:15. Please come and visit the teacher and get an update on your child's progress. Please come and support your child's education.

Mitakuyepi, the Norris Elementary Christmas program will be on Tuesday, December 17th, at 2 p.m. in the Norris Elementary gym. Please come and support your child for their Christmas program. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The Black Pipe Singers at Sinte Gleska University performing for the Wicoicage Ohunka Woyuonihan: Building Bridges: Honoring Generations of Stories. We are honored and privileged to have Leksi Duane Hollow Horn Bear with us and his support. The kiddos did a phenomenal job! Way to go Black Pipe! Oyate ki wica ki unlowanpi! We sing for the People!

Dear Parents and Guardians: I have wonderful news to share! The Black Pipe Singers have been cordially invited to perform the Lakota National Anthem for the high school football State championship game on Friday, November 8th at 7 pm. It will be televised on KELOLAND/ NBC, PBS (Public Broadcasting), live stream, FaceBook live, and it will be on YouTube. This is the first time in history that they have allowed an elementary drum group to perform the Lakota National Anthem at the state championship. We are Lakota strong and Lakota proud! Dear Parents, Guardians, and relatives: The Black Pipe Singers are the host performance at Sinte Gleska University: Wicoicage Ohunka Woyuonihan Building Bridges: Honoring Generations of Stories. It will be at the Multipurpose building on November 1st from 2-6 pm. We are super proud to be collaborating with Sinte Gleska University and are honored to perform for the university! Dear Parents and Guardians: Thursday, October 31st, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe will be having a Trunk Treat in Rosebud at all the Tribal entities from 11 am to 3 pm. Norris Elementary students will be attending this Trunk Treat. Please have them wear their costumes or bring them to school. The big bus will be leaving Norris at 11 am. Students will return around 1 pm. Classroom parties will start at 2 pm, Parents if you have goodies or snacks for your child and their class, please bring the treats to school by 1:45 for your child to hand out. Thank you! Dear Parents and Guardians: The University of Wisconsin RN program will be at Norris Elementary tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29th. The nurses will work with the children on safe hygiene practices and provide the students with toiletries. Thank you, Dr. Lo and team!

Dear Parents and Guardians: The Corn Creek and Black Pipe communities will collaborate with Norris Elementary to host a Trunk Treat on Wednesday, October 30th, in the Norris gym from 5:30 to 7. There will be booths and prizes! Please wear your costume and come join the fun! A meal will be served!

Dear Parents and Guardians, Ms. Rachel in Kindergarten will be having a Parent Engagement activity in Science. Kindergarten parents, please come and support Ms. Rachel and this great science experiment. This event will be on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 12:25-1:00 pm.

Elementary Vision Screening will be on October 22 in White River and Norris. This is for grades K,1,3,5. This is done by the Lions Club and a permission form is required. Forms will be sent home today, Oct 16. Please fill them out and return them. This is a great and thorough screening. A note will be sent home with the students who are referred for a full exam. If you DO NOT want your child to be a part of the screening, please let the school office know. You will be notified if your student shows a need for further evaluation.
