Art Competition

This year, White River School had the exciting opportunity to participate in both Artwars and the State Art Show in Aberdeen!

Two of our talented students, Alana Moran and Jovanna Dilon, represented White River at Artwars—Alana in photography and Jovanna in ceramics. While we didn’t bring home any awards from Artwars, it was an incredible experience, and our students showcased their creativity and talent on a competitive stage.

At the State Art Show, however, our students truly shined. Randi Haukaas submitted a beautiful watercolor piece, proudly representing White River in the watercolor category. Although her piece did not place, her effort and artistic voice stood out, and we were proud to have her work displayed.

Samuel Beardt earned 1st place in Digital Media with his imaginative piece Monster Market. This marks Sam’s third consecutive year placing 1st in digital media—a remarkable accomplishment! Sam continues to demonstrate an impressive passion for digital art, and as his art teacher, I couldn’t be prouder of his growth and dedication.

Jovanna Dilon also had a standout performance at State, bringing home 2nd place in Functional Ceramics with her creative Shark Bowl and 3rd place in Printmaking for her piece Freaky Fungi. Jovanna is a fantastic artist whose commitment to improving her technique and exploring new mediums continues to impress. Her passion and hard work truly paid off this year.

I'm incredibly proud of all our student artists for their creativity, perseverance, and representation of White River School. Their accomplishments speak volumes about their talent and the bright futures ahead of them in the arts!
