The Pre-Calc Class did a lesson from the textbook together in groups using the crumple and shoot activity. They were assigned a problem from the textbook and it was copied into an ActiveInspire flipchart. They were given 2 minutes on the countdown timer. Whatever they finished in class was taken off the assignment, and the homework was the problems they had left.
It took the class a long time to make their first basket. They had to stop and practice because they were missing so badly. One group had all the right answers, but could not make a basket. The other group had less right but ended up in the lead due to their ability to make more shots. The kids really enjoyed this!
